What Is KPV?
Alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) is a natural hormone with many roles, one of which is helping the body regulate inflammation signals. KPV is the three-amino-acid tail end of that hormone, lysine, proline, and valine. The form prescribed at Evolve Health is KPV acetate.
What Researchers Are Studying
Because KPV is so small, researchers have been interested in whether it can act on inflammation signals without the broader effects of the full hormone. Research is early and largely laboratory-based. Areas of interest include:
- Calming skin inflammation signals
- Skin comfort for irritated or reactive skin
- Supporting the skin's natural barrier and recovery
How It's Prescribed at Evolve Health
KPV acetate is prescribed as a topical preparation applied to the skin. It is always a single ingredient. Prescriptions are written for one patient and filled by a LegitScript-certified 503A compounding pharmacy using ingredients from FDA-registered facilities with a certificate of analysis.
Is KPV Right for You?
During a comprehensive consultation, your provider reviews your skin history, current products and medications, and your goals. If another approach, a medical-grade skin care routine, an in-office skin service, or a referral, is a better fit, we'll tell you.
What to Expect
Your provider explains how and where to apply your prescription and what to watch for, such as skin irritation at the application site. Follow-up visits let us see how your skin is responding and adjust the plan.
